More about our 2023 Scholarship winners...
Topa Topa Flywheelers has been a favorite exhibitor at CWA’s Farm Day for at least 20 years. It's always a pleasure to award a special scholarships in their honor. This year, two Topa Topa Flywheelers scholarships were presented. The first Topa Topa Flywheelers Scholarship recipient is Stella DeBusschere. Stella comes from a six generation farming family, and attended St. Bonaventura High School. She's been an active 4-H-er, and raised goats. She is going to Cal Poly, SLO, to major in Agricultural Science. |
Kodi Sieben received the 2023 Lucy Vanoni Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is named in honor of Lucy Vanoni (1924-2023), a third generation farmer here in Ventura County, a long-time member of VC-CWA, and a charter member of the Ventura Certified Farmers Market . Vanoni family members honored Lucy by joining us in awarding Kodi with this scholarship. She has been at Ventura College and plans to transfer to Fresno State to study Animal Science. She has been an FFA member and officer, and has exhibited numerous livestock projects over the years at the Ventura County Fair. She hopes one day to work with a nonprofit doing animal rescue and rehabilitation - especially with horses. Congratulations, Aiden Schindel, for receiving a Topa Topa Flywheelers Scholarhip. Aiden has graduated from Villanova Preparatory School, and has worked at Southland Sod, Rancho Grande, and Star Point Ranch in Ojai. He has served the community through countless hours of community service, and played multiple sports. He has been accepted into Cal Poly, SLO, and plans to major in Agricultural Business. Aiden wasn't able to attend the scholarship award event, but his mom received his certificate in his stead. |
