Volunteers are the Backbone of any Organization
We are always looking for volunteers for the many events Ventura CWA participates in. All volunteer opportunities are a team effort and we go to great lengths to make every event enjoyable and rewarding. The tasks at hand are both large and small, so we need volunteers who are willing to get the joint effort done. We are open to joining in other volunteer events and opportunities, so it is always nice to have insight from newcomers to the organization.
We are seeking Volunteers for the following Events:
Ag in the Classroom: This entails contacting local schools to let them know that we sponsor Teachers to attend the Agriculture in the Classroom Annual Conference.
Farm Day: This position seeks local companies and famers in the agriculturally related field to come to present to elementary aged students. This is a field trip for the students so this is a fun filled day where the students learn about agriculture and its many encompasses. This group of volunteers selects the presenters and helps gather tokens of appreciation for the presenters as well.
Fundraisers: Be creative and help our chapter develop ways to fundraise for our scholarship foundation, which awards thousands of dollars each year to students planning studies and careers in agriculture.
Legislative Advocacy: In a time where topics and issues are constantly changing, we seek volunteers to help us gather and process the mass amount of information available on agriculturally related topics. We make a sincere effort to understand the issues from both sides. These volunteers are encouraged to publish or speak on their findings to the chapter.
Membership Tea & Quarterly Mixer: Encourage others to take their first step towards networking and advocacy for California agriculture. This is our recruitment team. They coordinate events that are open to everyone; potential members, current members, family and friends.
Scholarship Committee: We need individuals who are excited about seeing the future of agriculture in the faces of our youth. This committee aids in distributing the scholarship application to local high schools. They also participate in reading the applications as they come in and interview the candidates for selection by the committee.
Ventura County Fair: Ventura CWA has a booth at the Agriculture and Natural Resources Building at the Ventura County Fair held annually in August. This committee assists in the spirit of the building. We participate in greeting at the door, children’s activities, promotion of agriculture, and recruitment for the chapter. Our attempt is to make the building enjoyable and engaging for both adults and children.
We hope to see you at our next event!
